During the lockdowns and social distancing requirements imposed due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Dreamhouse created a digital theatre piece titled Darker, originally performed as part of When the Birds Come in (A Woman’s Place 2019), for 16 Days of Activism.
5 young women, using only their phones, recorded the scripted piece in isolation in their bedrooms and at the beach. Footage was then sent to director and Dreamhouse Artistic Director Carole Patullo, where it was curated, edited and finessed. The completed film was screened as a Facebook event on 25th November as part of 16 Days of Activism campaign, then made available online for on-demand viewing. This project was supported by Mornington Peninsula Shire – Equity and Inclusion, Arts and Culture and Community Arts.
